Lois Pearce Raine, active in historical society

Lois Pearce Raine, 72, of Penns Grove, N.J., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. Born Aug. 15, 1945, she was a lifelong resident of Penns Grove. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Fred; daughter Tracy Carr (Steven), son Michael (Irene) of Lewes; sister Barbara Lloyd; and many nieces and nephews. Lois is predeceased by her parents, D. Edgar and Martha (nee Miller) Pearce.

Lois graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1963 and from Glassboro State College in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

Lois was an active member of the Historical Society of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Oldmans. She was also an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church (now New Hope United Methodist Church). She enjoyed traveling and collecting lighthouses.

Services were held Friday, Sept. 22,  at New Hope United Methodist Church (formerly Emmanuel), 174 S. Broad St., Penns Grove. Interment followed the ceremony at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Historical Society of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Oldmans or New Hope United Methodist Church.
