Dewey officials bring supplies to hurricane victims

U-Haul bound for North Carolina
October 22, 2018

In just weeks, the Town of Dewey Beach has collected enough donations for Hurricane Florence victims to stuff a 26-foot U-Haul.

Dewey Beach Town Clerk Ashleigh Hudson said businesses and individuals from all over the Cape Region have brought nearly five tons of supplies to Town Hall after learning of the supply drive. Hurricane Florence caused widespread destruction throughout the Carolinas in September, with many areas still trying to recover from the powerful storm.

Hudson and Administrative Assistant Kate Banaszak left Dewey in the early morning hours Oct. 4 to drive donations to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
