The Four Ways to Give to The Restore

September 21, 2019

1. Donations
We gladly welcome donations to our ReStore facility. If dropping off items, you MUST notify the ReStore prior to drop-off.  Call (302) 855-1156 to speak to the cashier.

Moving or remodeling?  Are you replacing cabinets, appliances, or furniture in your home, business, or organization?  Why not donate the old ones?  Donors can call the ReStore and make arrangements to have items picked up as long as they are still usable. Equally important, your donation will remain in Sussex County.  It helps keep good stuff from going into the landfill and raises money for Habitat.Donors are asked to call the store at (302) 855-1156 and press 1 when prompted to schedule an appointment.  The ReStore's inventory is dependent on donations and thus constantly changing. Shop frequently to discover incredible deals!

We do not accept anything that is damaged, broken, stained, missing pieces or in need of repair. We cannot retrieve items from  up or down stairs.  It is a liability for our staff and your home.  Acceptance/refusal of any donation  is at the discretion of the driver.

Many thanks to our individual donors and to:
Echelon Interiors, Chesapeake Plumbing, Southern DE Physical Therapy, Boardwalk Builders, One Call, Premier Restoration, Tapa Homes, Zonko Builders, Morningstar Builders, NV Homes, Smith Builders, Miken Builders, Gem Craft, Aspen Builders, Lowes of Seaford, Millsboro and Lewes, Walmart of Rehoboth and Georgetown and Comfort Inn

2. Monetary Donation
If you do not have any material items to donate but would still like to help, the ReStore accepts monetary donations of any size!

3. Pre-Demolitions
Our volunteers remove cabinetry, appliances, doors, plumbing fixtures and more from houses that are scheduled for demolition. The items are then available for sale at the ReStore. These pre-demolition projects reduce the cost of demolition for the property owner, and may provide a tax donation as well.  If you or someone you know is planning to remodel, build new or demolish a house, contact us today at (302) 855-1156 for information about how the ReStore can help!

4. Volunteer
If shopping is not your thing but you'd still like to get involved, we are always looking for wonderful people to add to our stellar group of volunteers who help every day at the ReStore!  We could not exist without the help of volunteers. Please consider joining our team in an effort to benefit your community.

Volunteers can help in our ReStore with:
     • Cleaning the store
     • Donation pick-up and drop-off
     • Loading purchased items for customers
     • Preparing donations for display
     • Pricing items
     • Stocking Shelves
     • Other various tasks

Volunteers are needed at the ReStore daily and the hours are flexible. You must be 16 or older to volunteer at the Sussex County ReStores and you must fill out a waiver form.  Wear clothing you can get dirty, including sturdy boots or closed-in shoes. Shorts of appropriate length and material are acceptable as well. Gloves will be available for your use.  Volunteers are responsible for their own lunch.  There is a volunteer fridge for you to store your lunch, and many local businesses deliver to the ReStore. If there is any question about whether the ReStore is open (inclement weather, etc.), please call ReStore at 302-855-1156.

You have to register as a volunteer first.  Register by clicking on the Blue button below.  Please schedule your volunteer day with the ReStore in advance.  Every volunteer will receive an orientation to become familiar with Habitat and the ReStore.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Courtney at 302.855.1153 x 217 or
