Milton swimming with families at annual Andy and Opie Fishing Tournament

October 10, 2020

The annual Andy and Opie Fishing Tournament brought dozens of families out to Milton’s Memorial Park Oct. 3 on a beautiful fall afternoon along the Broadkill River.

The tournament featured boys’ and girls’ divisions for 7 & under, 8-12 and 13-17. The first 300 registered children received a fishing rod or tackle box. Trophies for first, second and third place were awarded to the winners of each age group in both boys’ and girls’ divisions for the longest fish caught. Trophies were also given to the overall tournament champion and Goober’s Choice Award.

This year's proceeds will be donated to the Lower Delaware Duffle Bag Project. This group’s volunteers create handmade duffle bags for children entering foster care in Sussex and Kent counties.

This year’s fishing tournament, presented by Techno Goober, Dan’s Tackle Box and First State Fabrication LLC, was made possible with help from these Gooberific sponsors:
