Bayhealth Food Drive in Partnership with Food Bank of Delaware

January 2, 2024

Bayhealth is excited to announce its upcoming Food Drive, an initiative with the Food Bank of Delaware, aimed at addressing food insecurity within our community. Bayhealth’s commitment to our community reaches far beyond the holidays. And so does food insecurity for 1 of 10 Delawareans who struggle to put food on their tables.

Event Details:

  • Dates: January 15-28, 2024
  • Time: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. every day
  • Locations: Main entrances of Bayhealth Kent and Sussex hospitals

Community members, businesses, and organizations throughout the state are invited to participate by donating non-perishable food items to help fill the new Bayhealth Mobile Care Unit. These items can include hot and cold cereals, canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned meats, rice, pasta, healthy snacks like granola bars, and 100% fruit and vegetable juice.

“At Bayhealth, we are committed to the community and want to demonstrate the importance of supporting in ways that reach beyond the walls of our hospitals,” said Bayhealth Community Relations Partnership Manager Carrie Hart. “This food drive provides an opportunity for everyone to make a positive impact and contribute to fighting food insecurity in Delaware.”

“Our mobile unit is creating change for our community by meeting people where they are,” said Bayhealth Interim Vice President, Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement Amanda Bowie, MSM. “Stuffing the mobile unit with food for our community members with food insecurity is another way we’re bridging the gap and connecting our community with the services they need to live healthy lives.”

To participate in the food drive, community members can drop off their donations at the main entrances of Bayhealth Kent and Sussex hospitals.

All collected items will be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware, where the items will serve individuals and families facing food insecurity.
