COMEDY GREAT, Jim Florentine!
Facebook Freaks. Instagram Exhibitionists. Twitter Trolls. Distracted Drivers. Shitty Superstitions. These are a few of the creatures our technology-obsessed culture has spawned. And a few of the things that comedian Jim Florentine hates. Opening his new book, Everybody Is Awful (Except You!), Florentine writes: “I’m a simple man trying to live in a complicated world. Most days, all I want to do is maintain my peace of mind. But, that’s hard as hell when everything I consider normal has flipped on its head.”
The madness is so universal now that everyone has dealt with it. You read a stupid post and immediately want to tell your “friend” to go have relations with himself. Sure, social media may keep us connected, but it is a breeding ground for idiots, and these idiots have crowd-sourced a storm of useless information and corny jokes that are wasting our time.
If you’ve followed Jim’s career, been to his comedy shows, or listened to his podcast, then you know that the stuff that frustrates the hell out of him has been the source of his comedy. Everybody Is Awful (Except You!) ridicules the people that foul up a good day, and is for anyone annoyed with the unnecessary drama in their life. As Jim reminds the reader, you have to put things in perspective and laugh at the inanities. And remember, you’re not awful...it’s the other guy. You are hilarious!
Comedian Jim Florentine is a former co-host of VH1's “That Metal Show” and a critically acclaimed actor, seen most recently on Amy Schumer's hit film Trainwreck. He hosts a popular weekly podcast, Comedy Metal Midgets, and is a featured DJ on Ozzy's Boneyard channel on SiriusXM radio. Florentine rose to fame with his bestselling recordings Terrorizing Telemarketers and he created and voiced the wildly popular character Special Ed for Comedy Central's “Crank Yankers.” He won an Emmy for his work on HBO's “Inside the NFL” and had two Billboard top-ten comedy albums within a single year (Cringe N' Purge and Awful Jokes from My First Comedy Notebook). Florentine lives in New Jersey.
