May 17, 2017

reetings everyone and welcome once again to our regular "Weekender Blog," brought to you as always by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby's International Realty.

As we do each week, we have some great local events and happenings for you to consider this weekend, and we'll preview each one of them below in just a moment.

But this is also the final weekend before the official kickoff to the 2017 summer season here in coastal Delaware, so let us be the first to wish you a fantastic summer here at the Delaware beaches.

We hope you get outside and soak up every single minute of it, and that includes taking advantage of all the great events and activities planned in the area between now and the end of October.

As for this final weekend before Memorial Day, we have a quintet of public activities to make you aware of.

This weekend's featured events range from the Bald Cypress Bluegrass Festival in Frankford to events in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, and are a great way to enjoy your final weekend before things really kick off in earnest next week.

Now, let's delve right into all this weekend's featured happenings. We begin with...

Bald Cypress Bluegrass Festival (May 20). Scheduled for Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. in Frankford, this annual event features five great bands and is a fundraiser to benefit Delaware Wild Lands. The Bald Cypress Bluegrass Festival will also feature a selection of food trucks, as well as craft vendors and local beer and wine from Nassau Valley Vineyards and Dogfish Head. The festival will be held at the Roman Fisher Farm, located at the edge of the Great Cypress Swamp, or 245558 Cypress Road if you have GPS. Tickets to the event cost $25 for adults and $10 for children between the ages of 5 and 17, and also include a tour of the swamp, the largest contiguous forest on Delmarva.
