Here’s What’s Happening in Coastal Delaware between July 28 and August 1

July 28, 2016

Three of the biggest events of the summer are happening this weekend in or near coastal Delaware, and we’re here to tell you all about them in our “Weekender Blog,” as always, brought to you by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty.

We also have three outdoor movies featured in the next few days, including two on the beach, as well as a morning running event in Dewey Beach, and a lot more to bring to you this week.

Now we know the weather has been exceptionally hot, so be sure to bring some water and don’t stay in the sun for too long at a time. Seek shade if you can and just generally take care of yourselves while out and about this weekend.

And what better way to get through a hot summer day in coastal Delaware than having a great tasting ice cream cone. Check out our recent blog entry HERE for five great ice cream shops at the Delaware beaches.

But, hot or not, these are events that you don’t want to miss. They only happen once every 12 months and they are some of the best happenings of the year. So get out there and check them out if you can.

So, let’s jump right into it, shall we? Here are our choices for events and happenings at or near the Delaware beaches for the expanded weekend of July 28 to August 1.

Have a great time!

Delaware State Fair (through July 30). The 2016 Delaware State Fair winds down this weekend at the state fairgrounds in Harrington. Saturday will be the final night for this year’s edition of the fair, so plan your appearance before the gates close for another year. As is usually the case, the fair has just happened to occur during the hottest week of the summer, so if the heat bothers you, consider going in the evenings when it’s not quite as warm. Lots of exhibits, the usual fair food, carnival rides and top-notch entertainment at the grandstand again highlight the festivities. Visit www.delawarestatefair.com for more information.

Senior & Big League World Series (July 31-August 6). These two events run simultaneously at the Lower Sussex Little League complex in Roxana and feature teams from all throughout the United States, as well as Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe. It’s the final destination for teenage girls who play throughout the summer for a chance to participate in their respective World Series events. This is a sight to behold and the final three games of each tournament (six in total) are televised on the ESPN television network. Visit www.seniorsoftballws.org for more information.
