Possums’ production dates are Friday to Sunday, June 7 to 9, and June 14 to 16. Those auditioning must be available for all shows. Friday and Saturday showtimes are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. The cast consists of two women and four men portraying members of a close-knit family, five adult siblings and their father. The five siblings are numbered according to birth order. All love their family. Mostly they love to fight about politics. All are  from Iowa.

The cast requirements are as follows: Ann, between 60 and 70, plays Peter Pan; John, in his late 60s, plays John in “Peter Pan”; Jim, in his mid-60s, plays Capt. James Hook in “Peter Pan”; Michael, in his early 60s, plays Michael in “Peter Pan”; Wendy, in her late 50s, plays Wendy in “Peter Pan”; and George, the father, in his 80s, plays the roles of a dying man, a ghost, and himself.

The play is divided into three movements. First, the family members are in the hospital with their dying father. The second movement takes place around the family table the day before George’s funeral. The third movement is a send-up on the Peter Pan story, taking place in the nursery and Neverland.

Those interested in participating in the production but who do not wish to be considered for an acting role are encouraged to consider volunteering for other jobs associated with the show.
