‘Black Perspective on Art’ program set March 19 in Milton

March 6, 2024

Milton Arts Guild will host a featured presentation from two prominent Black artists, Dane Tilghman and KO Simms, on the inspirations and influences reflected in their work.

“A Black Perspective on Art” will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, at  the Milton Fire Hall, 116 Front St., Milton. The talk is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Based in the Philadelphia area, Tilghman has been a professional artist for 40 years. He embraces an extravagant style and color palette to make Black life and culture from the early 20th century the centerpiece of artistic admiration.

KO Simms is a Wilmington-based artist and educator with exceptional experience in the disciplines of watercolors, acrylics, pen and inks, and pastels. Simms’ unique style has developed from over 20 years of on-the-scene drawing and painting of landscapes, cityscapes and figures. The presentation is free and open to the public as part of the MAG Talks series, which highlights various aspects of the creation, curation and business of art. “A Black Perspective on Art” also represents MAG’s continued commitment to diversity and inclusion in the arts.
