‘Faces Places’ to open Dec. 1 at Cinema Art Theater

November 29, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present "Faces Places," a delightful documentary about an unusual collaboration.

One of the leading figures of the French New Wave, 89-year-old Agnes Varda, and acclaimed 33-year-old French photographer and muralist JR teamed up to co-direct this enchanting documentary/road movie. Kindred spirits, Varda and JR share a lifelong passion for images and how they are created, displayed and shared. Together they travel around the villages of France in JR's photo truck meeting locals, learning their stories and producing epic-size portraits of them.

The photos are prominently displayed on houses, barns, storefronts and trains, revealing the humanity in their subjects, and themselves. "Faces Places" documents these heart-warming encounters as well as the unlikely, tender friendship they formed along the way.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1; 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2; 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3; 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4; 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6; and 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for film society members and $10 for nonmembers.
