‘Gender Revolution’: A Journey with Katie Couric’ plays May 2

Post-screening discussion panel planned
April 29, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric,” Tuesday, May 2.

It used to be simple: Girls wore pink, and boys wore blue; girls played with dolls, and boys played with trucks. Yet around the globe, these traditional notions of gender are changing rapidly, and the labels are no longer so clear cut. National Geographic sets out to explore this evolving concept of gender through the lens of science, society and culture in the groundbreaking two-hour film “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric.”

The movie explores the complexities of gender in everyday life, from birth through the twilight years. To better understand this complex social and scientific issue, Couric crisscrossed the U.S. to talk with scientists, psychologists, activists, authors and families to learn more about the role of genetics, brain chemistry and modern culture on gender identity. With conversations that range from the scientifically enlightening to the deeply personal - and coinciding with the January issue of National Geographic magazine devoted to stories about gender from all over the world - Couric's unflinching search for truth sheds light on countless untold stories of struggle, understanding, ignorance, hurt and love.

CAMP Rehoboth and PFLAG Rehoboth Beach will coordinate a panel of guests for a post-screening discussion.

The screening will start at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rehobothfilm.com, or by calling 302-645-9095, Ext 1. If available, tickets will be sold at the Cinema Art Theater starting 30 minutes prior to the screening. Admission is $5.
