‘Masters of the Air’ author talk set March 28

March 21, 2024

Donald L. Miller, author of “Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany,” will take part in a book talk and signing at 5 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. The event will also stream live online via Zoom.

The inspiration behind the popular Apple TV+ series produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, Miller’s book provides a riveting history of the American Eighth Air Force in World War II and the young men who flew the bombers that helped beat the Nazis and liberate Europe. “Masters of the Air” takes readers on a harrowing ride through the fire-filled skies over Berlin, Hanover and Dresden. It vividly depicts life in wartime England and in the German prison camps, where tens of thousands of airmen spent part of the war.

Miller will be in conversation with Paul Sparrow, former director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. Registration is required. At registration, participants will be asked to select virtual or in-person attendance. To sign up, go  to tinyurl.com/zoomwithauthors or call 302-645-2733.

Miller is the John Henry MacCracken Professor of History Emeritus at Lafayette College and author of 10 books, including “Vicksburg.”

Participants are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a signed copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Books will also be available for purchase and signing at the event.
