The 76ers need superstars

May 3, 2018

The Philadelphia 76ers are playing the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs. The 76ers had a tough opening game. They couldn't buy a three point basket! If they want to have a shot in this series, they have to be more aggressive and play more consistent defense.

Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid have to perform like superstars for the 76ers to win this series. The 76ers can't just rely on the home-court advantage to win. They need to win at least one in Boston.

In baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies are hanging around in the very mediocre National League East division. The Washington Nationals were supposed to be the dominant team in the division, but they are currently in fourth place. The Phillies are in third place and only two games out of first. This may sound awesome, but they are in a very tenuous position because their starting pitching is inconsistent outside of the top two pitchers in the rotation.

In the last week and a half, the Phillies offense has not been producing nearly enough either. If they don't step up, the slide will be soon. I am still pretty optimistic about the team's prospects in the next 2 or 3 years. This was not the case, just a year ago.

In local sports, the spring season is coming down the stretch. As usual, Cape High is doing very well in every sport. The boys and girls lacrosse teams have lost very few games so far. The baseball and softball teams are also doing well. The tennis team is also winning matches. May is state championship month, so we'll see if they can all keep it up.

Go Cape!

See you on the sidelines
