Albert Arnold Farley Sr., retired mechanic

Albert Arnold Farley Sr., 76, of Georgetown passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Friday, April 27, 2018, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Burlington, N.J., to the late Albert E. Farley Jr. and Barbara Francis Van Leeuwen Farley Aug. 9, 1942.

He lived in Sussex County for 45 years, and was previously from Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve and was called to active duty in the Navy on the USS Intrepid (CVS-11). Mr. Farley was a truck driver in his younger days, and then progressed to being a service line mechanic for Perdue, where he later retired. He loved old cars, and was very skilled at working on them. On the side, he worked as an auto painter for Bill Collins body shop for many years, as well as being a server for Meals on Wheels.

Mr. Farley was a hard worker, a loving companion, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a caring friend.

He is survived by his children Albert Jr. and wife Brenda Lee of Bethlehem, Pa., and Denise Shaffer of Quakertown, Pa.; and his grandchildren: Karen Marie Farley, Jacob Charles Farley, Matthew and Heather Schaffer, Hailey Farley, Emma Farley and Lilly Farley.

He is also survived by his companion of more than 30 years, Diana Toomey of Georgetown, as well as his stepchildren: Harvey Toomey and his wife Misty of Georgetown and Stacy Toomey of Laurel. He is also survived by numerous stepgrandchildren: Michael and Jeremey Creppon, Desiree Smith, Destiny and Kody Hickman, Cheyanne Toomey, Khristian and Mckenzie Baker, Logan Creppon, Layne Creppon and Kaelynn Rich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son: John Charles Farley; a grandson, Austin Toomey; and a brother, Robert Masssaro.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to help offset medical and final expenses either to Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, or you may visit the Go Fund Me Account set up in his name (Albert Farley).
