All are invited to Epworth UMC Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner Nov. 23

Volunteers needed Nov. 20, 23
November 21, 2017

Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach invites one and all to its 10th annual free community Thanksgiving dinner and sweatshirt giveaway from 12 to 3 p.m., Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23. All are welcome; no reservations are required. Carryouts and delivery will also be available.

The 2017 dinner is in memory of event founder Diane Leitch, who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer. Leitch recognized a need for such a community event and then did what was required to make it happen. Over the years, Epworth's Turkeyville Team has welcomed a growing number of guests and volunteers, with more than 500 participants in 2016.

Epworth can use donations of pies and also welcomes volunteers. Assistance is needed with advance preparations that start Monday, Nov. 20, as well as with serving the dinners, preparing carry-out meals and cleanup efforts on Thanksgiving Day. To sign up to volunteer, go to eumcrb.org/thanksgiving. Those interested in donating money or turkeys for the dinner may call 302-227-7743, Ext. 117, and leave a message; someone will return the call as soon as possible.

This event also includes a sweatshirt giveaway. A selection of warm and fuzzy sweatshirts will be available to anyone who needs one. Sweatshirt donations can be made by stopping by the church and leaving freshly laundered, A#1-condition sweatshirts in the donation bin.

Epworth United Methodist Church is at 19285 Holland Glade Road, just north of Rehoboth Beach off Route 1. Epworth UMC is a church exploring faith and embracing community, truly practicing open doors, open minds and open hearts as a member of the Reconciling Ministry Network, and it includes American Sign Language services.
