America art reception at Milton Arts Guild June 30

June 24, 2017

The Milton Arts Guild announces its show America, which will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 30, at the Studios on Walnut.

In 1968, Simon and Garfunkel recorded "America," a song that creates a cinematic vista telling of the singer's search for a literal and physical America that seems to have disappeared, along with the country's beauty and ideals. The mood of the song slides from optimistic exuberance to a feeling of emptiness, with each verse painting a slightly different mood.

Guild members interpreted the song's meaning in the form of their paintings, photography and sculpture.

Po' Boys Creole and Fresh Catch, and Gooey Donuts will provide reception refreshments.

The show is open to the public and will run through Monday, Aug. 7.

The address is 310 Walnut St., Milton. For more information, call 302-684-1500 or go to MiltonArtsGuild.org.
