Arena’s Run the Goat Again 5K for Milford Boys & Girls Club set Aug. 18

August 10, 2017

The 3rd Annual Arena's Run the Goat Again 5K will be held Friday, Aug. 18, starting at 6:45 p.m., from Arena's Restaurant at 200 NE Front St. in Milford. There is also a free Running of the Kids K for ages 10 and under. Proceeds go to the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club. Come in a favorite "goat" costume and support the Boys & Girls Club!

Why name the event "Run the Goat Again?" Goat Island is an eight-acre island on the Mispillion River, located within the city limits of Milford. It is a beautiful habitat consisting of forest and marshland and is an outdoor classroom for students as well as the community. Milford Parks and Recreation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control developed this venue, and it will be a portion of the Run the Goat Again 5K course.

The race committee invites local runners and those from around the state to come and visit downtown Milford and experience the beauty and history of Goat Island. Go to www.cityofmilford.com for more information and visit www.bgclubs.org to learn more about the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milford.

The fun course for on- and off-road runners and walkers is USATF certified with chip timing. Entrants receive a T-shirt, giveaways, and awards to overall male and female, masters male and female, top three in 10-year age categories 13 and under to 70 and over, and top male and female walkers. Strollers are not permitted in the run and no dogs. There will be a huge post-race party including live music for all participants and beer for those over age 21.

The race committee thanks sponsors Arena's, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, BayHealth and Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. Registration is available online at www.races2run.com until Wednesday, Aug. 16, and will open at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 18, day of the races. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Kids K starts at 6 p.m., and the race begins at 6:45 p.m. sharp. There is no charge for the Kids K.
