Athletic conference awards announced at Worcester Prep

Worcester Preparatory School announced that its boys’ cross country and boys’ soccer teams won their Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference championships. In all, 23 student-athletes were named in the 2017 ESIAC All-Conference Team selections, including two Player of the Year awards and one Runner of the Year award. Six sports teams, girls’ field hockey, girls’ and boys soccer, girls’ and boys’ cross country, and golf compete in the conference. Below is a summary of WPS ESIAC awards for field hockey, girls’ and boys’ soccer, girls’ and boys’ cross country, golf and volleyball.

All-conference varsity girls’ soccer team members are Player of the Year Delaney Abercrombie, Mesa Cammack, Emily Copeland, Kaylee Dickson, Gracie Gardner and Alannah Curtis, Honorable Mention. All-conference varsity boys’ soccer team members are Cole Berry, Tucker Brown, Brenner Maull, Player of the Year Vincent Petrera, Cooper Richins, Henry Taboh and Colin Miller, Honorable Mention. All-conference varsity field hockey team members are Hailee Arrington, Virginia Bateman, Abbi Nechay, and Hana Miller, Honorable Mention. All-conference varsity boys’ golf team members are Colby Hook, Brendan Miller and Austin Taylor. All-conference varsity girls’ volleyball team members are Stevie Eppard-Annis and Caroline Pasquariello.

Worcester Prep's all-conference varsity boys’ cross country team member is Connor Carpenter, who was also named Runner of the Year. As a freshman this year, Carpenter transitioned from playing soccer to running cross country and has never looked back. He is a competitive scholar-athlete who excels in basketball and lacrosse as well. Coach Keith Geiger said, "Connor has showed maturity and responsibility in leading the team this year as a freshman. He has a positive attitude and good work ethic that is demonstrated every day in practice and races." Carpenter lives in Rehoboth Beach with his parents Joan and Cory, and younger siblings Anna and Max.
