Atracare open house to focus on substance use disorder Sept. 28
In response to the growing need for understanding and support surrounding substance use disorder, Atracare Mental Health will host an open house in partnership with the Delaware Goes Purple initiative and Sussex County Health coalition. The event is set for 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, at Atracare Mental Health, 1532 Savannah Road, Lewes.
A campaign aimed at destigmatizing addiction, Delaware Goes Purple has been at the forefront of creating a platform where teens and adults can discuss the harrowing consequences of drug addiction. Its mission revolves around empowering communities to rise against the prevailing stigmas and offer unwavering support to those grappling with addiction.
“Atracare Mental Health is deeply committed to advancing mental wellness and shedding light on topics that often remain shrouded in silence. We believe that by opening our doors and partnering with impactful campaigns like Delaware Goes Purple, we can create a ripple effect that leads to a more compassionate, informed community,” said Dr. Dane Bluestone, Atracare Mental Health director.
Participants will have the opportunity to: engage in enlightening discussions about substance use, stigma, and addiction; learn about the resources and support available at Atracare Mental Health; and connect with others who have been affected by addiction, creating a support system within the community.
By hosting this open house, the Atracare Mental Health team wishes to send a clear message: Those struggling with addiction are not alone. With the combined efforts of organizations like Delaware Goes Purple and compassionate community members, there’s hope for a brighter, stigma-free future.
The event is open to all and is especially beneficial for individuals who know someone battling addiction as well as educators, healthcare professionals and anyone interested in learning more about substance use disorders.
