Barbara Vaughan will make a difference

October 20, 2016

We are writing in support of Barbara Vaughan to be the next state representative for District 20. Anyone who has known of and experienced Barbara's extensive community work in the 20 years she has been in Sussex County knows that Barbara will make a difference as her campaign slogan promises.
Barbara brings to this position years of experience in government and community affairs.

She has been twice elected to the Lewes City Council. She has been appointed to the Lewes Planning Commission, Lewes Scenic and Historic Byways Commission, Lewes library board and the founding board of the Greater Lewes Community Village. Barbara initiated the effort to create the historic preservation commission in Lewes, and has been an active supporter of the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, and the Friends of Canalfront Park and the Lightship Overfalls. For these and her many other civic involvements, Barbara was honored with the Citizen of the Year award in 2015 from the Greater Lewes Foundation.

Barbara is committed to sustainable, regional growth and has spent countless hours at city, county and statewide meetings to become informed about not only the issues, but also as the political back stories that often influence how decisions are made. Barbara has networked throughout the state and not only knows, but more important, has the respect of the players making the decisions that will impact the future growth of this district as well as Sussex County.

In a time of political bullying and deception, Barbara believes in collaboration based on mutual respect and cooperation. Barbara is a woman of great integrity.

We recommend that you too get to know more about Barbara, by going to her website, (www.votevaughan.com) or coming to the League of Women Voters Candidate's Forum at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Lewes Public Library.

We urge you to both learn about Barbara and how she will make a difference for this community if elected to represent us. Please vote for Barbara Vaughan for RD20 State Representative Nov. 8. We could not ask for a better-qualified candidate to represent us in RD 20.

Kathryn and Mark Harris
