Bay to Beach Builders Inc. cuts ribbon on Home for Hope

March 4, 2017

Bridgeville home builder Bay to Beach Builders Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the very first Home for Hope ever built in the State of Delaware. Bay to Beach and their trade partners built the home to donate the proceeds to Homes for Hope, a nonprofit organization that, together with HOPE International, provides financial resources and support to help alleviate physical and spiritual poverty in 16 developing countries around the world.

"We love the fact that this is a hand up and not a handout, and that it is sustainable and that this can be impactful for generations. Families will see long-lasting effects of this. To know that our organization can be a part of breaking the cycle of poverty for families in other parts of the world is just an amazing thing," said Deric Parker, owner of Bay to Beach Builders.

Founded in 1999, Homes for Hope works within the homebuilding industry, forming partnerships with builders and their trade partners to create homes for hope, revenue-generating projects which provide financial support for HOPE International's microeconomic development programs across the globe. To date, homebuilders and trade partners around the country have completed over 100 homes, raising over $10 million in charitable contributions. With their assistance, HOPE has been able to offer an estimated 1 million loans aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty for aspiring entrepreneurs in 16 countries around the world.

Bay to Beach Builders company was started and runs on Christian principals, and their Amish-built homes offer clients a level of quality they just can't find anywhere else. Owners Deric and Carla Parker are a fifth-generation Delmarva Peninsula family invested in their local and global communites. They know that families living on less than $5 per day aren't able to provide for the most basic of needs, but it's not because they aren't capable. It's because the capital needed to start a business is not available at a fair rate, and they are taking action. "God calls us to love our neighbor whether it's right here in our ZIP code or on the other side of the world. The best way we have found to do that is through Homes For Hope. We are loving the poor by sending a clear message through the services of HOPE International,” says Parker.
