Beebe and heart association to present stroke summit Dec. 2

November 13, 2023

The Second Annual Stroke Summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, 1301 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach. Registration is required. To securely sign up, go to tinyurl.com/4mryv5w5.

The free educational event will return to Sussex County thanks to a collaboration between Beebe Healthcare and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Hosted by Dr. David A. Tam, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO, and E. Thomas Harvey III, American Heart Association Delaware board of directors leadership chair, the summit will again feature a series of expert presenters.

Community members in attendance will learn more about the risk factors for stroke, the warning signs of stroke, recent advances in research, the latest information on prevention, treatment and care, and more.

There will also be clinical breakout sessions to allow for continuing education credits.

Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 cause of death, claiming nearly a million American lives each year, more than all forms of cancer combined. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S., the third leading cause of death in Delaware, and a leading cause of long-term disability.
