Beginner wheel throwing class set at the Rehoboth Art League Jan. 29-31

January 19, 2018

Come to the Rehoboth Art League Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 29-31, and be amazed by one of the oldest and most intriguing processes of making pottery – wheel throwing. Wheel throwing is the process of making forms using a spinning wheel. The first pottery wheel was used in approximately 4500BC. Although the equipment has advanced, the process has remained very similar.

Beginner Wheel Throwing is the perfect class to introduce oneself to basic wheel throwing techniques. The class will take place at the Rehoboth Art League from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for adults ages 18 and older. Participants will learn about the nature of clay, clay preparation, centering clay as well as throwing and shaping cylinders. The cost of the class is $130 for members and $165 for nonmembers which includes the cost of clay and the bisque firing of pieces.

To register for Beginner Wheel Throwing go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call the Rehoboth Art League at 302-227-8408 Ext. 112. All classes will be held at the Rehoboth Art League at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.

The Art League is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making art accessible to all. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
