Bernard S. Myers Sr., had many hobbies

January 12, 2024

Bernard S. Myers Sr., 82, of Lewes, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024. He was born March 7, 1941, in Columbia, Pa., son of the late Dr. John Charles Myers and Mary Bernice Myers.

After graduating from Columbia High School in 1959, Bern attended college at Penn State University and proudly earned an associate degree. He married his love, Mildred "Millie" (Fischer) Myers and raised four boys in Newark.

Bern decided to take an early retirement and moved to Lewes so he could enjoy some of his many passions, such as traveling and spending time with his loving grandchildren. He also had many hobbies. He loved spending time doing yard work, as well as fishing, boating, skiing, playing tennis and golfing with friends. Above all, the time spent with the ones he held dear was what he cherished most.

In addition to his parents, Bern was predeceased by his brothers, Chuck and Joe; his sister, Sue; and his granddaughter, Ashley.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen Sr. (Cindy) of Wyoming, Bernie Jr. (Lisa) of Middletown, John (Teresa) of Middletown, and David (Tracy) of Holly Springs, N.C.; his 10 grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Kasey, Kristen, Katie, Kyle, Laura, Jacob, Maggie, Jenna and Abby; and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bern's name to Lewes Fire Department, 347 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.

At the request of the family, services will be private.
