Bethany Area Repertory sets 'A Tiny Little Secret' Feb. 19-20, 25-27
The Bethany Area Repertory Theater will perform "A Tiny Little Secret," an award-winning original comedy, at the Dickens Parlour Theatre at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19 and 20, and Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 25-27. Tickets are on sale now.
The comedy tells the story of a group of characters that all have something to hide. There is a dead grandfather, a tax fraud scheme, a secret fiancé, a troubled political campaign and other twists and turns that result in a nonstop roller coaster ride of laughs.
"A Tiny Little Secret," written by BART’s playwright in residence, Robert O. Davis, was a finalist in the category of new, unproduced and unpublished original plays at the Aloha Performing Arts Company Original Play Festival in 2014. The play was read for the first time during the play festival in Hawaii, and will be performed on stage for the first time at the Dickens.
A member of the Dramatists Guild of America in New York City, Davis has had three original plays receive such an honor from theatrical organizations across the country. “I am thrilled to have 'A Tiny Little Secret' performed on stage for the first time,” said Davis. “To see one of my original works come to life is magical.”
“We are very fortunate to have an award-winning playwright in our ranks," said Jeff Martini, BART president. “It allows us to bring original plays to the stage never seen before, giving our patrons something new, while supporting BART’s 20 by 20 initiative.”
BART’s 20 by 20 initiative, established this year, has the ultimate goal of funding 20 local area student scholarships by the year 2020 to students who pursue a career in the arts. Royalties paid for the production of BART’s original plays like "A Tiny Little Secret" go into BART’s Scholarship Fund, a fund held by the Encore Foundation, established by Rich Bloch, owner of the Dickens Parlour Theatre.
