The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition announced the 20th Annual Breast Cancer Update will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, at the Rollins Center at Dover Downs Hotel. The update features leading medical experts and speakers discussing the most up-to-date information on breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. The educational forum is free and open to the public and has become one of Delaware's most trusted sources of up-to date breast cancer information.

"This year's breast cancer update is focused around the national and local efforts to end breast cancer," said 2017 event Chair Marilyn Hyte. "Attendees can expect to learn about the cancer moonshot initiative along with local DBCC efforts to fund research in our own backyard. Attendees will also learn about recent advancements in treatment, screening detection, and how lifestyle changes can impact risk and recurrence."

Featured speakers for this year's conference include: Joanne Ambrogi, MSPT, ATC, CMT, RYT 500, physical therapist at Ambrogi Integrative Health Services and Specialty Rehabilitation; Marianne Carter, MS, RD, CHES, director, Delaware Center for Health Promotion, Delaware State University; Diana Dickson-Witmer, MD, FACS, medical director of the Breast Center at the Helen F. "I am thrilled to chair the 20th annual breast cancer update," said Hyte. "Because of two decades’ worth of leadership from the coalition, the planning committee, and the former conference chairs, our forum has become the premier breast cancer conference in the state. The topics continue to correspond with current medical trends, and our panelists relentlessly educate healthcare professionals, community members, and breast cancer survivors who attend each year."

The event features discussions by panels of breast cancer experts and attracts over 300 community members each year including physicians, nurses, social workers, breast cancer survivors and advocates. Four contact hours and .4 continuing education units will be available to nursing professionals and social workers for $3. To register, go to www.dbcc.ejoinme.org/bcu. The program is free but donations are welcome to offset program costs. Registration will close Thursday, March 30.
