Broken pipes cause flooding at Beebe Healthcare

January 7, 2018

A broken sprinkler head and water pipe caused flooding at Beebe Healthcare’s main campus in Lewes Jan. 7.

In a press release, Beebe said at about 4:50 p.m., fire alarms and sprinklers were activated in the west portion of Beebe Healthcare as well as in a building on the north of the campus, that is not involved in patient care. Lewes, Rehoboth, Milton fire departments responded to the call within minutes.

A patient was moved away from the affected area in the main campus. Patient care was not affected in other areas of the hospital. There were no injuries.

The parking garage at the main campus is closed until the area is clear.

While the hospital cleans up the limited flooding, except for the garage, Beebe Healthcare is back to normal operations.
