Brownie Scouts learn about story clues at Lewes library

December 7, 2016

Ashley Hoffman, a Lewes Public Library assistant, helped the Brownies of Troop 1150 learn that stories hold clues for how to better the world. Hoffman led a discussion Nov. 17 about clues in stories and how to find them. She then read "Cam Jansen and the Millionaire Mystery" to the troop.

Stories are fundamental to how girls learn about themselves and the world. They allow girls to absorb the ideas and richness of many cultures, and that develops their empathy, tolerance and acceptance of others. Reading stories and figuring out their clues is a fun way to build girls' confidence as leaders. The girls appreciated that Hoffman helped them earn the Hear a Story Award as part of their Girl Scout leadership journey.
