I spent three hours this Sunday afternoon at the Big Chill Surf Cantina in Rehoboth Beach and had a fantastic time! I was with a group of friends from the Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network to raise awareness about House Bill 110, The Delaware Marijuana Control Act.
Hundreds of Delaware adults were enjoying the excellent music of lower case blues while spending time with friends, talking, dancing and most were enjoying a few adult beverages, which of course are regulated and taxed by the State of Delaware.
As I talked with people about HB110 and asked if they supported legalization of cannabis for people like themselves, about 99 percent of them said yes!
Why shouldn't adults be free to consume cannabis? We're all free to consume alcohol, which is a much more dangerous substance and does far more harm to people than cannabis ever will.
I no longer drink alcohol. I'm an alcoholic, and after many years of pain and sickness, I've been able to stay away from alcohol for the past 18 months.
Cannabis helps me manage my disease.
It was a lot of fun to see everyone partying and having a great time, but a little bit disheartening for this alcoholic. While many were enjoying legally imbibing, those of us who choose a safer alternative are considered criminals and have to sneak around.
Prohibition doesn't work. Tell your representatives that cannabis should be regulated and taxed in Delaware and that they should enact HB110.
