The Cape boys’ basketball squad held its end-of-season banquet March 26 at Irish Eyes in Lewes, where head coach Steve Re presented the 2023-24 season awards and kudos.

The Freshman Sportsmanship Award was presented to Liam Crotty. The Junior Varsity Sportsmanship Award went to Tremaine Batson.

The Varsity Sportsmanship Award was presented to senior Kameron Trammell, who also was chosen to play in the Blue-Gold All-Star game. Senior Jack Schell was also chosen to play in the Blue-Gold game.

Junior Jayden Dukes was presented the Defensive Player of the Year Award and was named all-conference. He was also recognized as one of the Delaware Coaches Top 15 Players.

Freshman Jameson Tingle was named team MVP and voted first team all-conference; he also was chosen as one of the Delaware Coaches Top 15 Players.

“The banquet was a great night to celebrate Cape boys’ basketball,” said Re. “We appreciate all the parents and the community for the support this season. We had a great season for such a young group.”

The Cape squad went 11-10 and won its DIAA first-round state tournament game 61-50 over Sussex Central before falling to Sanford in the second round.

“A DIAA playoff berth for the second year in a row and a first-round win is a great foundation for this group moving forward,” said Re. “We are looking forward to taking some time off and then get back to work this off-season.”
