October 9, 2016

Freshman Davonte Johnson scored with seven seconds left in the game to lead the Vikings’ freshmen to a 20-18 victory over Lake Forest Oct. 5 at Legends Stadium.

“Cape freshmen do it again,” smiled Cape Co-Coach Harry Hudson.

The Vikings were down 18-6 at the half, when the coaches made adjustments in the locker room. When the game was on the line in the fourth quarter, with just two minutes remaining, a spread offense was initiated and the freshmen Vikings rolled to a 20-18 win.

Sh'Kai Chandler scored two touchdowns in the contest, while Davonte Johnson scored one. Hunter Simmons kicked two extra points.

“This team has heart and never quits,” said Hudson.

The freshmen Vikings travel to Caesar Rodney Wednesday, Oct. 12, for a game with the Riders.
