Cape girls’ lacrosse battles the best to get ready for the season

Vikings open at home Thursday with Stephen Decatur
March 20, 2018

The Cape girls’ lacrosse team’s 2018 edition is ready for the regular season after after two weekend play days against six strong Maryland teams characterized by a stronger, faster and meaner style of play.

At the Mid-Atlantic Play Day March 17, the Vikings had close encounters with powerhouses St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, Bel Air and Glenelg.

Other teams tearing into each other in the play day were Queen Anne’s County, Summit, Archbishop John Carroll and Notre Dame Prep.

Each year the Vikings have played in the Mid-Atlantic Play Day, they get rocked in game one, as they are just not ready for the fast and furious, focused and physical style of play brought off the draw circle by a nationally ranked top 5 team.

“We played the roster. We want all our kids ready for the regular season,” said coach Lindsey Eichner. “We played better as the day wore on, holding our own against Bel Air and Glenelg, but we never got much going in th 9 a.m. game versus St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes.”

Cape will open the season at home Thursday, March 22, hosting Stephen Decatur. The Vikings will then play at Ursuline Monday, March 26.
