“Izzy: An Independent Film,” starring Cape Henlopen High School graduate Aaron Latta-Morissette, is slated to shoot various scenes throughout locations in Rehoboth Beach June 7-10.

Latta-Morissette, a resident of Rehoboth since he was 7 years old, is returning home to star in an upcoming film that focuses on “finding your perfect match, making the most out of the world around you, and searching for the meaning of life,” he said.

Growing up, Aaron embraced the “beautiful beaches, local business and scenery that Rehoboth has to offer,” he added while describing how these amenities made Rehoboth an easy choice when deciding to correlate and highlight the attractiveness of the town within a film.

While working on various sets and being featured in diverse projects to further his acting portfolio and experience, Aaron worked closely with the director of this particular film behind the scenes on many other projects. Aaron certainly wanted to work in front of the camera, and after about a year of development, he was cast as the lead role in “Izzy” with the character molded around his attributes.

The film was even reworked to make sure that all the sights mentioned are featured based on their diverse attributes including “the nostalgia of Gidget’s Gadgets [where Aaron worked for five years before moving to New York to pursue his acting career], the comfort of Crystal Restaurant, and the tranquility of our beaches and landmarks.”

As an active member of the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre Program, Aaron was involved with every production put on during his high school career under Director Martha Pfeiffer.

“I couldn't be where I am today without Martha Pfeiffer,” he said. “The theatre program she provided her students with at Cape ignited a passion for acting that could never go away. She pushed me to go further, pulled me in the right directions, and opened doors for me that I never would have imagined possible. She helped me book my first manager, get accepted to my first college, and even introduced me to my acting coach, Matthew James Thomas (Broadway's “Pippin” and “Spider-Man”), who I used to idolize, and now can call a friend. She offers guidance, support, and warmth to everyone she meets, and had I not gotten to work with her for four straight years, I don't know that I'd be where I am today. I also wanted to thank all of the teachers who let me leave their classes to go practice in the theatre; you have all positively contributed to my journey.”

Although plans are in place, Aaron and the cast have a budget that has been tapped out, and they seek the support of the community via their GoFundMe page, which also has more information on the movie, filming dates, and a background/portfolio for Aaron.

“Your generosity would truly mean the world to us. If money isn't an option, but you'd still like to help, any local restaurant that could pitch in to our craft services would still play a huge part in getting our job done. We have already received incredibly generous donations from Arena’s, Moe’s, Nicola’s, and Half Full to help feed our crew, and we could really use your help too!

“This way too, everyone can share in the experience of making this movie happen! it was always my dream to create art like this, and now we have the potential, together, to make that dream come true in the best way possible,” said Aaron. He said his love for the the arts has been molded by the community of people around him, and he wants this to be a collaborative effort.

Aaron hopes to receive support on all levels and hopes to see fans in town for the filming. To make any contributions or learn more about the project, visit the GoFundMe Page for this labor of love: www.gofundme.com/quotizzyquot-independent-short-film.
