Cape Henlopen Elks support veterans through fly-fishing outreach

February 27, 2024

Members of the veterans committee of Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 visited the Milford chapter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Feb. 7 to give the organization a donation check for $1,000.  Veterans Committee Chair Bob Trafton made the presentation to James DiDonato, the group’s leader.

A nonprofit organization, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is a physical and emotional rehabilitation program for disabled active-duty military personnel and disabled veterans. Participants take part in fly fishing and associated activities, including education and outings. All fly fishing and tying equipment is provided  at no cost. Fishing trips, both one-day and multi-day, are also provided free of charge to participants.

Through donations to such deserving local organizations, the Cape Henlopen Elks connect with veterans and military members in the community, providing them with services where they live to help them thrive.
