The Cape Henlopen soccer squad continued to tune up for the season with two scrimmages against Middletown and St. Elizabeth Aug. 27 at Legends Stadium. Cape scored four goals against the Cavaliers in a 60-minute scrimmage, then added five more goals against the Vikings in an 80-minute contested scrimmage.

“We are working on more of a possession game,” said second-year coach Patrick Kilby. “We controlled the pace in both games. It’s the best that we’ve played in the preseason.”

Using a more controlled three-back game, Kilby was quick to praise junior Luke Mulcahy for stepping up.

“Luke is really showing that he is a leader on the team,” said Kilby. “He balances our shape and keeps us organized.”

After this week’s two-a-days, Cape will finish off the preseason by hosting St. Georges Tuesday, Sept. 6, at home.
