Car crashes after shooting west of Georgetown

A driver west of Georgetown crashed his car Dec. 7 after police say another driver shot several rounds into his car.

The driver was traveling northbound on Cokesbury Road near Route 404 at 9:28 p.m. when an unknown person drove next to his car and shot several rounds at the vehicle, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.

The victim drove off the roadway and into a ditch; he was not shot, but he was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries, DeMalto said.

No one else was harmed during this incident. There is no suspect information available, and the circumstances and motive surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
