Car runs into pole, interrupting power near Jungle Jim’s

A Rehoboth Beach teen faces drug charges after he crashed his car near Jungle Jim’s March 17, and police found about half a pound of marijuana in his car.

Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a crash at 8:03 p.m. after a car ran off Country Club Road near Jungle Jim’s, striking a pole and interrupting electric power in the area, officials said.

Delaware State Police contacted the driver, Jaimin L. Didomenicis, 18, and conducted a driving under the influence investigation, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

Police spotted a baggie of marijuana in plain view and after searching the car they found about 213 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Jaffe said.

Didomenicis was taken to Beebe Healthcare where he was treated and released with minor injuries. He was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, felony possession of controlled substance in tier 1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle under the influence of illicit or recreational drugs and traffic charges.

He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $13,202 secured bond.
