Catholic politicians should take right stand

September 27, 2016

Most Americans seem to expect politicians to lie. It's particularly refreshing this year to see honesty and integrity under the spotlight.

While the focus has been largely about State Department and DNC emails and Benghazi, there is a far more critical question concerning the hypocrisy of so many holding or running for office.

I publicly challenge Joe Biden, Tim Kane, John Carney, and any other self-professed Catholics to tell Catholic voters why your consistent support for legalized murder of the unborn is not a betrayal of your faith. It is long past due for you to stop hiding behind "I'm personally opposed, but..."

Either you're opposed or you're not. Either you believe, or you don't. Either you submit to God's word and the catechism of the Catholic Church, or you don't. Either you bring your genuine, deeply held beliefs, values, and principles to the political process, or they don't really mean anything.
