November 21, 2017

The Sussex Central Golden Knights football squad started out slow and could not get on track, as they fell 12-7 to William Penn in the opening round of the DIAA Division I Football Tournament Nov. 17 in Georgetown.

Each team took a quarter to size up the other before the Colonials got on the scoreboard with a 58-yard touchdown run by Isaiah Gaynor. The two-point conversion failed. William Penn went into the halftime break up 6-0.

The third quarter saw the Colonials scoring on a 28-yard pass play from quarterback Noah Ogbin. The two-point conversion failed again.

Central did get on the board in the fourth on a two-yard run by Drew Morris. Kade Bullock drilled the PAT to bring the Knights to within five.
