Charles Wesley Stubbs, retired truck driver
Charles Wesley Stubbs, 76, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Milford, to the late Paul and Mildred Carlisle Stubbs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings, Bill Stubbs, Bobby Stubbs, Faye Gandle and Mildred Walters; as well as a grandson, Charles “Chucky” Stubbs.
Charles retired in 2015 after 33 years as a truck driver for Adams Oil Company. He was a member of the Broadkill Sports Club and enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, clamming, breakfast club with friends, and farming with his best friend, Granville Conaway, and the Conaway Family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Joan E. Stubbs of Georgetown; two daughters, Anita Clark (WC) of Milton, and Josephine Schmitt (Kenny) of Greensboro, Md. Charles was blessed with six grandchildren, Krystle Clark, Tiffany Clark, Joshua Clark, Ashley Antonio, Juan Antonio, Michael “Mikey” Vanmeter as well as six great-grandchildren, Dominic, Lucas, Cayde, Kalina, Huxley and Charlotte. Charles is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bayhealth Cancer Center, 100 Wellness Way, Milford, DE 19963.
