Checking out the snow-covered salt pyramids in Bonaire with the Cape Gazette

March 16, 2024

Gazette readers Jay and Cindy Stewart from Millsboro had a wonderful time while on their three-week vacation in Bonaire. In addition to the great food, lively coral reefs, and tropical weather, they stopped by the snow-covered mountains, also known as the salt pyramids of Bonaire. Each pyramid contains approximately 10,000 metric tons of 99.6% pure salt. The salt is exported all over the world in equal portions to Europe, Asia and North America to be used primarily in water softeners and swimming pools.
