CHEER sets Trap Pond Fall Festival Sept. 2

August 24, 2016

CHEER Inc. will host its annual Trap Pond Fall Festival from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2. The event will feature good food, good entertainment and activities, and good old-fashioned fun.

DJ Sky Brady will return to lead the entertainment stage. He will be joined by the talents of Dawn Jones and Suzette Pritchett. There will be informational vendor booths, pontoon boat rides, cornhole games, pipe ball games, horseshoes, nature walks, a white elephant table and the ever-popular Wii bowling tournament.

The highlight of the day will be a fried chicken and ham lunch, complete with potato salad, green beans and ice cream. New this year is a Celebrity Jail Break featuring local dignitaries. Attendees can break out their favorite dignitary from jail by donating to the cause. Although the event is sponsored for senior citizens, everyone is invited.

Tickets are $6 for seniors 60 and over, and $8 for those under 60. Tickets are available at all CHEER activity centers or at the festival entrance the day of the event. Admission to the park is free that day.

Trap Pond State Park is five miles east of Laurel, south of Route 24. Proceeds support the CHEER Nutrition Program and Meals on Wheels. CHEER is a private nonprofit that promotes healthy and active lifestyles for seniors 50 and over in Sussex County.
