Chick-fil-A names Tim Sweetman owner of Millsboro franchise

Restaurant to hire close to 100 team members
January 22, 2018

Chick-fil-A has named Tim Sweetman franchise owner of the chain's Peninsula Crossing restaurant in Millsboro as the hiring of upwards of 100 new team members begins.

Millsboro's first Chick-fil-A is under construction at 30141 Commerce Drive and is projected to open this spring. A Maryland native, Sweetman grew up eating Chick-fil-A at an Annapolis mall and knew his first job would be at Chick-fil-A. As a teen, he became a team member at the chain's Edgewater location, where he learned more about Chick-fil-A's focus on handcrafted food and personalized customer service.

Sweetman graduated from Boyce College in Louisville, Ky., and worked as a communications and brand manager for a school before returning to Chick-fil-A as director of training and leadership development for three Annapolis restaurants. Between his passion for the brand as a customer and his experience serving the community and mentoring team members, Sweetman became convinced that the operator opportunity was a great fit for his entrepreneurial goals. He and his wife Emily and their family can't wait to serve the Millsboro community.

The new 5,000-square-foot location on Commerce Drive will include a heritage restaurant interior design that showcases handmade, authentic materials for a vintage-inspired interior, including a large gathering table made from reclaimed wood, subway tiles and a light fixture made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles. Drive-through service will feature two ordering lanes merging into a single lane for pickup, and the restaurant, with indoor seating for 107 and additional patio seating for 12, will include a two-story play area for children.

Sweetman has begun hiring as many as 100 team members as he builds his staff. He is filling full-time and part-time positions in all areas of the restaurant, including leadership development, hospitality, catering, training and marketing. Among other benefits that include scholarships for continuing education, Chick-fil-A restaurant team members appreciate having Sundays off, flexible schedules and the family atmosphere fostered at the restaurant.

Chick-fil-A is known for hiring, developing and retaining talent, and for offering a supportive workplace with opportunities for leadership development, respect for work-life balance, and competitive wages.

Team members are eligible for the chain's initiative, Remarkable Futures, which provides $4.9 million in annual scholarships. Ranging from $2,500 to $25,000, the scholarships are based on leadership, community involvement and academic achievement. Over the years, Chick-fil-A, which employs more than 75,000 people through corporate positions and franchised locations, has provided almost $38 million to help pay for college.

Interested applicants can apply by going to www.cfamillsboro.com. Note: Each Chick-fil-A restaurant is individually owned and operated and is a separate employer.
