Classic crooner Bryan Clark wows Cape Elks audience

Although Valentine's Day was just past, love was still in the air when local entertainer Bryan Clark came to perform for a sold-out audience at Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 in Lewes. This special event was hosted by the lodge's past exalted rulers, of whom four were in the audience: Paul Holton Jr., Gary Eckenrode, Ralph Patterson and Joanne Mayer.

Within the Valentine-themed hall, smooth jazz music was playing as guests took their seats at the beautifully decorated tables. Dinner was served by volunteers dressed in red and pink, and ticket holders enjoyed their choice of stuffed chicken breast or stuffed pork chop, accompanied by mashed potatoes and green beans, tossed salads, rolls and butter, and banana or coconut pudding pie for dessert.

Finally, the lights dimmed, and the dynamic Bryan Clark appeared onstage, along with his friend and talented percussionist Alan Dale. For those attending, time slipped away, back to the legendary, elegant nights with classic performers such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Barry White and Elvis, to name a few.

All profits from this entertaining evening raised funds exclusively for the Elks National Foundation and its mission to fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities. Most recently, the Cape Henlopen lodge received ENF approval for a $2,000 grant given to the Community Resource Center in Rehoboth Beach, which provides food and other support for those facing hunger, and helps clients make ends meet by providing rescued food from local grocery stores and restaurants. The agency distributes more than 3,000 bags of food each month.

The success of this and future events ensures that Cape Henlopen Elks can continue to help improve the quality of life in the local community. With sincere gratitude, lodge members thank Bryan Clark for his support of the Elks' mission, and hope that his busy performance schedule will permit his return soon.
