Coast Rehoboth Beach plans 12-room expansion

Hotel experiences high demand and accolades in first season
November 23, 2023

Coast Rehoboth Beach has submitted plans to the City of Rehoboth Beach for an addition of 12 guest rooms to the property after experiencing a surge in customer demand at the recently redeveloped boutique hotel in downtown Rehoboth Beach. The hotel is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection.

Coast opened its doors to guests in July and has maintained a stellar occupancy rate through the first several months of operation.

Coast is Rehoboth Beach’s latest upscale boutique hotel and restaurant experience designed to celebrate one of the greatest beach towns in North America. Located two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, Coast is a revitalized and reimagined property that embraces Delaware’s coastal lifestyle. The property’s transformation quickly earned recognition by Rehoboth Beach Main Street. The downtown advocacy group recently honored Coast with a Cottage & Town Award for large-scale commercial renovation.

Coast offerings are highlighted by vibrant, coastal-inspired accommodations, on-site dining, rooftop indoor pool, outdoor patio with fire pit, 24-hour fitness center, golf cart transportation to and from the beach, on-site resort-inspired activities and access to bike rentals, among many other amenities.

The 12 new guest rooms will feature more space and include enhanced designs with new health- and wellness-inspired amenities.

“With the ever-evolving consumer landscape, we have quickly realized a shift toward guests prioritizing their overall health and wellness habits while visiting Rehoboth Beach,” said Vince DiFonzo, president and chief operating officer of TKo Hospitality.

Features include yoga mats, Peloton bikes, sound machines and upgraded bedding. Enhanced ADA accessibility will also be created within the planned addition. The hotel has also experienced demand for group travel from corporate and business guests associated with the nearby Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

If approved, construction would begin immediately. It is the owner’s intent to have Coast remain open for business safely while the addition is constructed. The addition will not require extra impervious surface or additional parking, as adequate infrastructure already exists on site.

“The transformation of this hotel property has helped provide an immediate economic impact to downtown Rehoboth Beach, and because of this revitalization, it is also a wonderful place to stay and experience,” said Thomas J. Hanna, president and CEO of Harvey Hanna & Associates Inc.

Coast also features Sirocco Restaurant, which has quickly established itself as one of the more popular and critically acclaimed upscale dining establishments in Rehoboth Beach. Located on the first floor of the hotel, Sirocco showcases southern European cuisine highlighted by the season’s freshest local ingredients. Inspired by the wind that sweeps across the northern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, guests have enjoyed flavor profiles from Rome, Mykonos, Nice and Barcelona.

The Coast Rehoboth Beach management team is led by General Manager Alexandra Kennedy-Hutchinson and Ashlee Martinelli, regional director of sales. Kennedy-Hutchinson is responsible for managing the day-to-day hotel operations, overseeing its 40 associates and ensuring guests encounter the acclaimed Tapestry Hilton service the brand consistently delivers globally. Martinelli is responsible for providing sales service and support to travelers and meeting planners frequenting the Rehoboth Beach area. For more information, go to coastrehobothtapestry.com.
