Community Resource Center says thanks

May 30, 2018

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the communities that donated to the Post Office Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive May 12, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers. The Food Rescue program at the Community Resource Center was one of the recipients of this charitable initiative again this year.

We are so grateful for all the donations, and because of the wonderful generosity of the community, we have a really great supply to give to anyone in need. Our Food Rescue Program is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to give to anyone needing food and to accept food donations.

We also would like to thank the ongoing and continued support of the churches and local residents and food drives that help us give to so many all year. We give to 15 to 20 people every day, and because of your support we were able to give out 1,530 grocery bags of food last month. It is amazing that we are able to give so much, but our weekly donations from Giant, Fresh Market, Wawa, Pizza Hut, and other local stores also make it possible for us to do this all year.

Hunger and homelessness are very big problems in our area, so we thank you for your help, support and a big thank you to John Workman from the Rehoboth Post Office who works so hard to organize this every year. Thanks also to the volunteers at the Food Rescue who help every week working tirelessly to make our Food Rescue Program a great success.
