Connexin offering free identity monitoring for eligible patients

November 29, 2022

Connexin Software Inc. a provider of electronic medical records and practice management software, billing services and business analytic tools to pediatric physician practice groups, is providing notice that an unauthorized third party was able to gain access to an internal computer network.

Connexin is providing this media notice on behalf of a local physician practice group, the Pediatric & Adolescent Clinic Inc., Milton.

On Aug, 26, Connexin detected a data anomaly in its internal network, launched an investigation and engaged third-party forensic experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. On Sept. 13, Connexin learned that an unauthorized party was able to access an offline set of patient data used for data conversion and troubleshooting, and remove some of that data from the internal network. Connexin is not aware of any actual or attempted misuse of personal information as a result of this incident.

The live electronic medical record was not accessed, and the incident did not affect any physician groups’ systems, databases or medical records systems at all.

Data security is very important to Connexin, and it immediately took action to stop the unauthorized activity. In response to this incident, Connexin has enhanced its security and monitoring as well as further hardened its systems as appropriate to minimize the risk of any similar incident in the future.

For a limited number of patients and/or parents/guardians/guarantors, Social Security numbers may have been involved. Connexin has arranged to offer complimentary identity monitoring and/or credit monitoring services to these individuals.
