Dana Lynn West, animal lover

Dana Lynn West, 56, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at home after a short battle with cancer. Dana was born Nov. 29, 1967, at Beebe Hospital.
 
She worked at Georgetown Walmart for 27-plus years before working at Georgetown and Laurel Exxon. Dana held a second-degree black belt in taekwondo. She enjoyed local dirt track racing and NASCAR, especially No. 3 Dale Earnhardt, and could be found cheering on her favorites. Dana had a real love of animals, especially her dog, Charlie, who predeceased her.
 
She is survived by her parents at home, Eugene and Peggy West; her brother, Robert "Bobby " West and fiancée Debbie Walton of Georgetown; her uncle, L. Elmer West of Millsboro; her aunt, Joye Sammons of Virginia, her aunt and uncle, Debby and Sam Harrell of Florida; cousins, Brian and Amy Farber of Delmar, and Heather and Nelson Showalter of Virginia; her special friend, Stephanie Lord, who was such a dear friend, as well as her caregiver for many days who helped with such tender loving care; friend, Sandy Wilson of Millsboro; and many Georgetown Walmart friends. Dana was predeceased by her grandparents, Elmer "Reds" West and Lillie Messick of Millsboro, and Philip and Miriam Brown of Georgetown; and aunt, Mary Frances West of Laurel.
 
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro. 
 
Dana was known for her love of animals. Flowers are welcome, but donations can be made in her memory to Brandywine Valley SPCA, Georgetown.
