David A. Holt, kind man

April 3, 2024

David A. Holt, 71, of Knoxville, Tenn., lost his battle with pancreatic cancer Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. David fell asleep peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.

As a young man, David was proudly a lifeguard, Eagle Scout, and graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan University, Rocky Mount, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. When Brian, his only son, joined the AYSO Soccer League as a young boy, David was hooked and enjoyed being a soccer referee for 30-plus years. David had a wide array of interests in boating at Norris Lake, astronomy, birds, music, Tennessee football, and a love of Marvel movies. David enjoyed travel and was always up for a road trip and ready for an adventure. He was the kindest man with a wonderful sense of humor. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. We have been blessed by the love, kindness, and support from family, friends, neighbors, and members of the National Agents Alliance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waunita and Robert W. Holt Jr.; and his first wife, Martha Berry Holt.

David is survived by his stepmother, Irene Holt Smith; wife, Linda Rogers Holt; son, Brian Holt (Jennifer); furry children, Max and Mitzi; granddaughters, Bentli and Bryli Holt; sister, Patty Gerardot; niece, Heather Rouns (Chad); nephew, Jeremy Shearer (Milita); great-nephews, Aiden, Logan, Owen and Joel; brother-in-law, Dave Rogers; extremely special step-relatives, Gary and Joan Schuler, Richard (Teresa), Karl (Diana), Julie (Steve), Tristan, Jadon, Paul and Griffin; and special friends, Joe Ballangee, Karl Westerman, Pat (Teresa) Wilke, Jeanne (Mark) Kidd, Michael Mays, Mike and Debi Gunter, Paul, Perla, and David and Cedric Bird.

The family would like to say a special thank you to our Amedisys nurse, Shaunda Jones, and social worker, Renee Harley.

Private burial was held in All Saints’ Cemetery, Angola, Harbeson.

Donations can be made to Amedisys Hospice Care (5529), 1420 Dutch Valley Drive, Ste. C, Knoxville, TN 37918.
